KidSafe
KidSafe and Cape Express Player Protection
The Cape Express Soccer Club (CESC) is concerned with protecting the players of the Club. While we are required to participate in the NJYS KidSafe Program to establish a minimum level of protection, the Board has additionally decided to perform a criminal background check through Volunteer Select Plus (VPS), an internet based criminal background check service provider which has an agreement to provide these searches at a discount through the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
In accordance with NJYS requirements, the following persons involved with the CESC will need to comply with the KidSafe program (CESC requires background check for the same): • Board of Directors • Head Coach • Assistant Coach • Team Manager • Trainers • Any other individual who could be expected to be alone with any registered player for any length of time
Program compliance consists of completing the NJYS Employment/Volunteer Disclosure Statement and completing the CESC Player Protection Authorization Form that will allow the VPS search to be completed. In accordance with NJYS recommendations, the Club President performs the duty of KidSafe Coordinator. The Vice President will assist distribution and collection of the necessary forms. The KidSafe Coordinator will keep the completed NJYS Employment/Volunteer Disclosure Statement and results of the VPS search in a secure location.
It is the intent of the NJYS KidSafe Program and the CESC to deny the ability to perform any of the above listed functions to any person who has been convicted of a crime of violence or a crime against a person.
